Delhi Holiday Parade 2023

The Delhi Holiday parade is coming to Main Street Delhi on Friday, December 1st at 5:30pm! This annual event kicks-off the holiday season by bringing the community together and welcoming Santa and Mrs. Claus to town. The parade has a Holiday Book theme and each float will be competing for a first, second or third place prize.

The parade starts at 5:30 from SUNY Delhi’s lower parking lot and ends at Courthouse Square where Santa and Mrs. Claus will take to the gazebo for photos. Festivities, including hot coca, chili, and crafts, continue in Courthouse Square until around 7pm.

Chamber Member Spotlight: Delaware National Bank

The Delaware National Bank of Delhi is a community minded bank with high customer services standards operating in multiple locations in Delaware County. It is the oldest bank in the county and is the oldest corporation in the community of Delhi. Additionally, it is the 25th oldest bank in the country and the third oldest in New York State. They offer a variety of services to the community including online banking, drive-up lanes at multiple branches, and a variety of banking accounts.

Farmers’ Market Feature: Bainbridge Silk Mill

Bainbridge Silk Mill is a NYS-licensed growers nursery in Chenango County, NY. They provide annuals, perennials, vegetable seedlings, hanging baskets, fresh cut flowers, and seasonal arrangements. The nursery also offers custom arrangement and special order bouquets.

Holiday Parade 2023: Call for Participants! 

The Delhi Holiday Parade is coming to town on Friday, December 1st at 5:30pm and the parade needs YOU! This annual event kicks-off the holiday season by bringing the community together and welcoming Mrs. Claus and Santa to town. The parade needs creative and enthusiastic groups to prepare a Holiday Book themed float. Participants are automatically entered for a chance to win a first place prize of $200, a second place prize of $100, or a third place prize of $50. 

The parade starts at SUNY Delhi’s lower parking lot and ends at Courthouse Square. There Santa and Mrs. Claus will be in the Gazebo for photos as part of the Jonesey Jubilee to honor Don Jones, who played Santa in Delhi for decades. Enjoy hot coca, chili and crafts until 7pm.

Delhi Work Station is a co-working office space on Kingston Street between the two green bridges in Delhi, NY. Desks rent month-to-month and include amenities such as unlimited coffee, fibernet, two phone booths, a monthly tenant lunch, and a space to work outside the home. Under the same room is Bizzy Bee Daycare

The founders of Delhi Work Station, Hanne Ghijsen and Bas Berkhout, are a couple raising three children while working in the creative fields of animation, graphic design, and videography. The pair realized they needed a place to work with childcare under the same roof and paired up with Amanda Faulk Ghidinelli of Bizzy Bee Daycare to bring this vision to life.

Farmers’ Market Feature: Lucky Dog Organic

Lucky Dog Organic is a vegetable farm in Hamden, NY, that has been in operation since 2000. They employ many farmers seasonally to help with day to day operations, creating opportunities for people to learn or expand their experience of vegetable farming while producing quality, organic produce. They sell their produce in a variety of ways including at local farmers’ markets and through the 607 CSA. You may also order vegetables online and have them ready for pick up at one of their markets.

Chamber Member Spotlight: W.I.D.E NY 

W.I.D.E. NY is a social justice organization that believes in promoting the inclusion and equity of all people through education and community outreach. Their mission is to amplify the voices and stories of historically marginalized communities in order to eliminate fear and prejudice in the community. They offer in-classroom workshops that explore a particular region or cultural celebration with book readings, geography lessons, crafts, regional music and food. They also offer events and activities throughout the year.

Enter the First Delhi Halloween Decorating Contest

You can enter your house or business in Delhi’s first Halloween Decorating Contest. Delhi’s own Emmett Tweed (12 years old) came to the Greater Delhi Area Chamber of Commerce with the hope of putting together a contest to showcase the best Halloween decorations in Delhi.

There will be prizes for the top three entries!

There is a separate contest for Businesses.

Chamber Member Spotlight: Saint James Church, Lake Delaware

Since 1914, Saint James Church, Lake Delaware, has welcomed local folks and visitors of Bovina and the surrounding region to join in song, service, worship, and prayer. Saint James Church has a weekly Sunday mass followed by a feast. Children begin mass with their parents in the Chapel and are offered the opportunity to attend Sunday School following the opening song. They are happy to welcome everyone from any walk of life to join in their weekly services and events.

Farmers Market Feature: Allie Townsend & Succurro

Allie Townsend is a livestock farmer working primarily with small ruminants, pigs and poultry at Succurro in East Meredith, NY. Succurro is a farm and meeting place for learning and workshops, with four canvas tents and two small apartments to accommodate stays and retreats. The 110 acres is home to goats, pigs, chickens and bees managed and cared for by Allie. As a farmer also working with energy medicine, Allie has a unique perspective and nurtures the idiosyncrasies of the human-animal dynamic with care. She offers pastured chickens, pork and goat shares, eggs, and raw honey.

Souther Tier Regional Economic Development- Strategic Plan Update 2023

The Southern Tier Regional Economic Development Council (REDC) is updating its 2011 Strategic Plan to define a new vision for the economic future of the Southern Tier region and is competing for a $10 Million Regional Challenge Award.

The REDC supports the development of the regional economy for eight counties in the Southern Tier Region of New York State: Steuben, Schuyler, Chemung, Tompkins, Tioga, Broome, Chenango and Delaware. The 2011 Strategic Plan established an economic development strategy with the goal of supporting job growth and investment in communities across the region.

The REDC is updating this strategy to keep pace with a shifting regional and national economy. The updated Strategic Plan will:

  • Provide an updated vision and focus for efforts to develop the Southern Tier’s economy

  • Analyze recent economic and demographic trends

  • Highlight major regional assets to build upon

  • Identify specific projects to fund that can advance an established vision

  • Craft a proposal for economic development strategies aimed at a specific area of focus to respond to the State’s call for proposals for awards of up to $10 million in State funding

Delhi's Year-Round Farmers' Market

The Delhi Farmers’ Market is a year round market, the only one in the area, and offers the farm fresh items you crave even in the cooler months. Keep the weekly tradition alive and support your local farmers and producers along the way. 

The Delhi Farmers’ Market is moving indoors to the Delhi American Legion on November 1st through the end of April. The market will move outdoors for May through October 2024. Enjoy the market each Wednesday from 10 am to 2 pm.

Horton Hill Farm is a small farm specializing in healthy, flavorful pasture-raised meats in Jefferson, NY. They raise pigs, chickens, turkey and qual, offering meat prepared in various ways, for example, Scotch Egg kits, cottage bacon and pork hot dogs.

Tenfold Farm is a first generation family farm located in Delhi, NY. The family dreamed of starting a farm that was within a three hour drive of New York City and when they arrived in Delaware County, realized they found their dream farm. On Huff Road, they pasture raise chickens and heritage pigs, giving them a great quality of life which produces flavorful meat. Soon they will welcome guests to their farmstay which is nestled among 156 acres of fields and forests.
